JAM (Just Add Mayo) LLP is a specialist partnership business focused to deliver help and support to companies looking for real growth.
Since 2004, JAM has helped many brands to develop, assisted start-ups and established companies move into new market sectors. We are food & drink specialists working across various sectors of the food industry. Whilst UK based, JAM has an international client reach – rather impressive for a specialist business of our modest size.
JAM’s team comprises of individuals with years of highly relevant and current practical experience. We pride ourselves on our ability to quickly get on with the project task and build lasting commercial relationships. Perhaps it’s not such a surprise to know that many of our clients still remain with us. We think it is because we are direct and able to overcome tricky business situations with good humour, integrity and ultimately because we get the job done.
JAM team members are located across the UK and typically home office based, coming together as required, to work as a combined project team as required.
Why not meet the team…?
Managing Partner
Paul is a well established food industry practitioner. His commercial career started with CPC Caterplan selling some of the UK’s best known food brands, Knorr, Hellmann’s, and Frank Cooper’s marmalade & Mazola corn oil etc.
His association with major food brands continued with RHM & McCain Foods.
Relishing a real commercial challenge, Paul then Joined Tryton Foods, shortly after their devastating factory fire of 1995. He led Tryton’s commercial team to establish the Aunt Bessie Brand as the UK’s fastest moving food brand, placing the brand well inside the UK’s Top 100 food brands from a standing start in just 6 years. Paul then headed up the commercial operation for the Kitchen Range Foods Group returning the business to profit within 18 months.
In early 2004, Paul launched JAM and quickly established the partnership. Whilst at heart, Paul loves the sales & negotiation process, he specialises in Business Strategy, Brand Creation & Development (incl licensing) & Leadership Mentoring.
Paul’s other passions are playing trombone in a big band or tinkering with one of his vintage motorcycles!
Partner
Johnny joined the team in 2007 and is a true expert in his handling of complex and large scale National Accounts in both Retail and Food Service channels. He is a high performing & strategic commercial professional with experience on both sides of the table; he has completed a long-term assignment as interim Director of Purchasing for Hard Rock Café (Europe).
Previously Head of Foodservice for Smithfield Foods Inc, he researched and set up their entire UK Foodservice operation.
Prior to Smithfield, as an international meat trade specialist, he managed the Marks & Spencer account for Tulip Foods Ltd.
Johnny’s passion, when off duty, is playing as a charity cricketer for a well known veterans team or can be found working as a VIP Steward at International Equestrian events, complete with traditional bowler hat!
Associate Partner
Andy is our most recent associate partner to join the JAM team, joining us in 2016. His extensive retail buying experience is highly relevant to many of our clients. In terms of experience, it is perhaps easier to say which major UK retailers that he hasn’t worked for. Senior trading roles at Safeway, Somerfield, Coop and Sainsburys in head office and regional sourcing role has given him a wealth of knowledge and consumer insights.
Suffice to say Andy’s practical no-nonsense style combined with his disarming Scottish directness is a winning combination.
As a member of our business growth workshop team, he has helped many clients overcome hurdles and secured new business listings in major retailers for them.
Andy values his free time, enjoying travel and his latest touring motorcycle.
Partner
Wendy helped to found the JAM partnership with Paul back in 2004 and still looks after most of JAM’s back-of-house systems. After graduating as a foreign language and marketing specialist, she worked at the head offices of Morgan Stanley Bank and then Sainsbury’s head office in London. She later broadened her retail trading experience becoming a senior buying manager. Her insights of what the UK retailer expects from a category supplier are highly valued by the team.
Wendy is a professional educator and trainer, focused management development, enhancing business processes, desk market analysis and of course, creating compelling copy for advertising and category management presentations.
Wendy’s passionate about photography, cross stitch and quilt making – it must be that eye for precise detail again!
Graphic Designer
Gavin is our resident graphic designer and all round nice guy – we love his zany sense of humour and sense of timing, that said he always meets deadlines.
Website design and E-commerce are his areas of specialism and he is always looking out for the next big tech thing!
Rock on Gavin – you’re our design guru!
